Blue Chicago

Bluesblog, Chicago April 21st - Big Time Sarah belted out sweet home chicago, and dragged the tourist crowd through five or six responsorial refrains. Even though she had to step on the crowd's chest to pull a few sweet homes out of us, the feeling you get when someone really screams Sweet Home Chicago is pretty fuzzy, so it was the highlight of the night before the ibep party at the Doral.

I can remember the last time dave, joe (gsb'05), chris and I tried our own version of Sweet Home Chicago at Arthur's, a bar downtown in NYC that prides itself on a lot of things; one of which is its round- robbin open mic. After hearing the baseline get stolen by some smilejock who thought the band was playing a led zeppelin song, the band, who claimed they had one of the guitarists from Cool N' the Gang (one of those lies you can't get caught in without internet access) just went with it. When it came around to us, we turned the train around and sang Sweet Home Chicago and that was that.

There are probably fifty versions of Sweet Home Chicago, but for my .99, Johnny Shines 3:32 is the best you can find on iTunes. See you all next time at Buddy Guy's.
